Imagine: NY Schools is a project of Education Voters Institute. In this critical election year, when candidates and elected officials are listening particularly hard to their constituents, we are convening a regional dialogue about what NY needs to do to provide an excellent education for every child. Imagine: NY Schools is creating forums with hundreds of civic leaders and ordinary New Yorkers to identify and explore possible solutions and innovations by engaging in a meaningful dialogue about public schools.
Information gathered from each dialogue will be made available right here on this website for review and further comments. We will share what New Yorkers are saying about public school reform and deliver to the newly elected Governor and other state-wide and local elected’s a 2010 “Blueprint” for creating 21st century public schools. In addition, this information will be shared with educators, media and NYS Department of Education. The “Blueprint” will be used to help shape policy recommendations and foster further dialogue about school reform.
